Welcome to My ASTL Portfolio! This website was created with the main purpose of sharing my knowledge throughout the Core of the Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning program at George Mason University as well as the Concentration in Spanish.
My Life
I was born and raised in Mexico City. I moved to the US during the summer of 1998.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages with a concentration in Spanish from George Mason University (GMU), and a Masters in Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Spanish through the Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning (ASTL) program at GMU.
I worked at The Appletree School in Fairfax, Virginia mainly as a Spanish Teacher since the summer of 2004, where I taught mostly PreK3, PreK4, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades, as well as 4th and 5th grades in past school years. I also taught 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th grade Spanish at Nysmith School for the Gifted in Herndon, Virginia during the 2015-2016 school year. After fourteen years teaching in private schools throughout Fairfax, I worked for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) at Mason Crest Elementary in Annandale with the Early Childhood Special Education team as an Instructional Assistant (IA). I am now starting my 18th year as an educator, working at The Langley School in McLean as an Extended Care Flex Teacher.
